What We Do

Our shop produces custom metal furniture, decorative accent pieces, signage, and fabricated products. Ann Arbor is 130 miles from us, a drive of roughly two hours, which puts us in the same state and the same time zone as your job.

Most of what we send that direction is specified rather than ordered: a restaurant bar rail drawn to a designer’s section, a reception desk frame that has to land on a particular finish, a run of table bases sized to a floor plan. Those projects turn on getting the details right the first time, so we quote from what you’ve drawn and tell you plainly where the drawing and the shop disagree.

Why Northwest Metal Products

Four reasons clients keep coming back.

01

Two Hours East

We’re in Grand Rapids, 130 miles west, which keeps us in state, on your schedule, and reachable by phone rather than by ticket system.

02

Quality Craftsmanship

We make parts that hold up in service. Everything carries a one-year warranty, and most of it stays in use far longer.

03

Custom-First

Send a drawing, a section detail, or a photo of a finish you’re trying to match. We stay with the job from first quote to final delivery, and we pick up the phone.

04

Built on Word of Mouth

Most of our business comes from referrals and repeat clients. In Michigan especially, one good job tends to produce the next one.

FAQs

Questions, answered.

Where are you based?

Our shop is located at 2055 Walker Court NW in Grand Rapids, MI, and we’ve been here since 1978. Ann Arbor is 130 miles east, about two hours, so we serve Washtenaw County as a Michigan shop rather than a distant vendor.

We’re a working production floor, so visits happen by appointment. If you want to see finishes and fabrication in person, reach out and we’ll set it up.

Being in state gives us options a cross-country job doesn’t have. Tell us where the piece needs to land and we’ll sort out delivery when we quote the project.

Yes. Send the sheets, the details, or the schedule and we’ll price from them. If something is drawn in a way we can’t make, or can make a better way, we’ll say so before you issue it.

Yes. Drawings, CAD files, or a rough sketch all work. If the concept isn’t settled, we can help you work through it before anything gets cut.

Call us, send an email, or fill out the quote request form on this page. Quotes are always free and come with no obligation. Share as much detail as you can about your project (dimensions, materials, finish, quantity), and we will get back to you promptly.

Often, yes. Send photos and dimensions, or let us come look at the piece. We’ll tell you how close we can get before you commit to anything.

Design complexity, materials, size, finish, and quantity. Since nearly everything we make is custom, each project gets priced on its own. Ask for a free quote and we’ll put a number to yours.

Lead times depend on how involved the project is and what’s already on our floor. You’ll have a date confirmed before the order goes in.

One year on everything we make. In practice, our pieces tend to stay in service far longer.
