What We Do

Our shop produces custom metal furniture, decorative accent pieces, signage, and fabricated products for designers, businesses, and institutions. Lansing is 68 miles east of us, which is close enough that a project doesn’t have to happen entirely over email.

That proximity is the whole point of this page. We can drive out, walk the space, take our own dimensions, and bring a sample back for you to see against the finishes already in the room. For a capital city full of campuses, care facilities, and corporate floors where new metalwork has to sit next to metalwork installed decades ago, being an hour away matters more than it sounds.

Why Northwest Metal Products

Four reasons designers keep coming back.

01

An Hour Down I-96

We’re 68 miles west of Lansing in Grand Rapids, which is close enough to show up when a project needs eyes on it and close enough to deliver without putting your order on a freight carrier.

02

Quality Craftsmanship

We make parts that hold up in service. Everything carries a one-year warranty, and most of it stays in use far longer.

03

Custom-First

Bring a drawing, a photo of something you need matched, or an idea you haven’t drawn yet. We stay with the job from first quote to final delivery, and we pick up the phone.

04

Built on Word of Mouth

Most of our business comes from referrals and repeat clients. In Michigan especially, one good job tends to produce the next one.

FAQs

Questions, answered.

Where are you based?

Our shop is located at 2055 Walker Court NW in Grand Rapids, MI, and it has been since 1978. Lansing is 68 miles away, about an hour on I-96, so we serve Mid-Michigan as an in-state shop rather than a distant vendor.

We’re a working production floor, so visits happen by appointment. Lansing is an easy drive either direction, and seeing a finish in person beats seeing it on a screen.

Being close by gives us options a freight-only job doesn’t have. Tell us where the piece needs to end up and we’ll sort out the delivery when we quote the project.

Yes. Drawings, CAD files, or a rough sketch all work. If the concept isn’t settled, we can help you work through it before anything gets cut.

Call us, send an email, or fill out the quote request form on this page. Quotes are always free and come with no obligation. Share as much detail as you can about your project (dimensions, materials, finish, quantity), and we will get back to you promptly.

We do work of that kind. If your organization purchases through a bid process or a registered vendor list, tell us early and we’ll tell you straight away whether we can meet the terms.

Often, yes. Send photos and dimensions, or let us come look at the piece. We’ll tell you how close we can get before you commit to anything.

Design complexity, materials, size, finish, and quantity. Since nearly everything we make is custom, each project gets priced on its own. Ask for a free quote and we’ll put a number to yours.

Lead times depend on how involved the project is and what’s already on our floor. You’ll have a date confirmed before the order goes in.

One year on everything we make. In practice, our pieces tend to stay in service far longer.
